Environment Concept Artist

As the Environment Concept Artist for OCP’s global art team, your focus is on concepting imaginative, inviting, and stylized original environments, structures, and props. Outside of concepting, the bulk of your time is spent collaborating with colleagues across Environment Art, Design, Gameplay, and across the full Art team. You should be familiar with  providing and receiving regular feedback, written and over video conference, to a globally dispersed team. You are working closely with environment artists to literally create OCP’s dynamic, playful world.

Role Overview

  • Support and collaborate with the Art Director to define the visual language and style of projects
  • Design environments, props, items, buildings and structures that fit within our art style
  • Create compelling concepts that can exist within implemented systems and their limitations
  • Support with world building via concept art
  • Provide art support to different teams or areas of development as needed
  • Participate in feedback sessions, and supportively embrace a high quality bar in you and your colleagues’ work

Qualifications

  • Strong portfolio of environment concept work for games, with an emphasis on stylized, playful examples
  • Ability to work well in a growing team, and contribute to best practices for the art pipeline
  • Deep knowledge of how concept art supports and connects to world creation
  • Demonstrated understanding of 3D art principles and ability to reflect those in concepts
  • Experience solving visual problems, while working with a diverse art team
  • Ability to self-organize, time manage, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a remote environment
